In the mid-1960s, Carol Ball was my first ‘proper’ girlfriend. She was also a wonderful encourager after I became a Christian. Eventually, we went our separate ways, but providentially reconnected in 2016 and regularly corresponded, sometimes amusingly, sometimes seriously. I am greatly indebted to her – her memory is sweet.
